Success Story: 16 Clients in 13 Weeks! (But not even remotely the full story!)
I remember Marca logging in to the first Bootcamp kickoff group coaching call last year. It has been delightful to coach her through the process of coming back from burn out to launching into private practice. I think a LOT of people can identify with many piece of her journey that she was kind enough to permit to be shared with y’all for some inspiration!
PLEASE read her entire story and see what it REALLY takes to make that kind of fast progress in private practice. There is often a LOT that happens behind the scenes of successful therapists.
Marca enrolled in Business School Bootcamp for Therapists January 31, 2018. February 2nd, I posted a question in the community group asking 2018 enrollees to share what has changed since they enrolled, and she posted this on February 4th, 2019. Here is here story in her own words:
Private Practice Challenge Week 2: Fees
We are talking about money. We all want to make money, but we don’t always love talking about it. We want to focus on the clinical work and ignore the money, but the two are absolutely intertwined!
FEAR NOT - we’ve got a plan.
In this training we talked about how to break down how your vision leads to you determining your fee. You will walk away with a clear formula on how to determine your fee, how to talk about your fee with new clients and how to raise that fee with current clients. We will also talk about what to do if you take insurance or sliding scale clients.
Private Practice Challenge Week 4: Marketing
A lot of courses focus on marketing. It’s one of the first things we jump to when we think about our practices - how to get clients in the door. But you notice how we didn’t start with marketing? You notice how we wanted you to get clear on what services you provide and WHO you want to serve?
Private Practice Challenge Week 3: Niche
Now it’s time to dig a little deeper. This training is focussed on NICHE.
Why do we say dig deeper? It takes a lot of reflection and honesty to niche well. It takes bravery too!
Whether your are solo in practice or have a group practice with a ton of clinicians, niche plays a pivotal role in client outcomes and we can’t wait to show you how. Our next training is going to cover how to niche, how to keep your practice diverse and how niche is to the benefit of the client AND to YOU the clinician.
Private Practice Challenge: Time for a Change

Being a relationship therapist in San Francisco can be scary! There a lot of therapists in a small geographical area, and there is a lot of stiff competition for getting to the first page of Google. So, what do you do when you are in a saturated market?
Are you marketing in a vacuum?

Private Practice Challenge Week 1: Vision, Clinical Outcomes, and Income
2019 is going to be THE year for not only more income but BETTER outcomes in your practice. Our first week in the series was all about Private Practice Vision and how it impacts clinical outcomes AND income! Your private practice vision is Step 1 in creating your private practice business plan as a therapist.
In this training we talked about how to create a vision that will be the cornerstone for your private practice. We address some of the tops myths about success and how to start making changes whether you are starting out or have been in private practice for decades.
Kelly and Miranda chat about outcomes in practice

In this podcast we delve into why outcomes matter, how outcomes inform your planning and your income, and how to integrate outcomes into your business starting now.
What Can You Do TODAY to Improve Your Clinical Outcomes (And Your Income?)
I know that in a few weeks we will be spending 5 weeks together LIVE talking about the many ways that you can improve clinical outcomes while also increasing your private practice income. But, I wanted to talk about something amazing and tangible that you can start doing TODAY in private practice. While you can do this ANYTIME (and you should do it regularly), this is something that is lovely to do at the close/start of a year.

2019 Forecast for Private Practice & A Therapist Challenge
I see people on therapist groups talking about how successful private practice is dying or unrealistic because of insurance rates, stigma, or insert whatever other reason here. And, it frustrates me.
Why?
“BST was the best investment I have made in myself. I went from working 45-50 hours per week to working 25 hrs, doubling my income,” Cyndi
