Do you have the time to be successful?
I talk with people regularly who are passionately committed to being successful in their small (or large) business. Only one small problem: they don't have time to be successful...
Does this sound like you:
Stacks of paperwork
Unfinished documentation
Unfinished projects
A long list of calls to return
A desk that looks like a nightmare
More than two legs to stand on
I was speaking with a friend and colleague yesterday about his new private practice. He has decided to take insurance. His reason is that he doesn't have time to market his private practice. Nothing wrong with taking insurance, really. But if you are doing something you just simply don't want to do and don't have the time to nurture, I don't see how it is going to help your practice thrive. Then later in the day I spoke with another colleague who wasn't sure where to start marketing her
Happily Married...Really?
As therapists, we see people in our offices, determined to make a relationship work, when sometimes to us, it is evident that it is not going to work. As technology consultants, we see the same thing! Let me explain.
I built my first website, all on my own using iWeb. I had a new MacBook that I loved and thought, heck why not use the free software to build my website.
Free Technology Consultation Winner!
Today, I had the pleasure of hosting a booth at the OC CAMFT Luncheon. It was a blast talking to therapists about their technology needs. We had a drawing for 30 minutes of FREE technology consultation. The winner is Shelley Zeigler, LMFT, in Costa Mesa! Congrats Shelley! Can't wait to chat!
One of the most common questions from today was "Can you build a website for me?"
Free Google AdWords Support for Therapists!
Google Adwords is a way to advertise your website on Google. It puts your website into a funny little "advertiser" box and can help to force a new website to the top or side of the page. It costs money, but can be pretty reasonable. Google is no offering free support to help you setup your "campaign" and to help you understand how it all works. I will give you the information below... but here are some things to understand BEFORE you set-up your first Google AdWords account:

Appointment Schedulers and Security
As a therapist, our calendar and having a full appointment book is our lifeline. If clients aren't calling, scheduling, and coming in for therapy appointments- we don't make money. The bummer is, that doesn't mean our overhead goes down in most cases!
One way that therapists are looking to increase new client schedules and decrease no shows/late cancellations is with online appointment scheduling capabilities. A big question when you are looking to see what program might work best for you is security.
Where Good Ideas Happen
Wonderful, lazy Sunday listening to National Public Radio (NPR) and was surprised to hear a fantastic TedTalk that I had heard before and how inspired I was this beautiful afternoon. I have so many ideas swirling around, but the long and the short of it is- we are made to live and think in community.
For Clinicians: The Path to Paperless...
Got a great comment/question from Uriah Guilford at http://helpthiskid.com
"I really want to go paperless, but haven't found the right software or program. I did the Argonaut trial, but just didn't like the look and feel, not to mention the yearly cost. Are there any other products you would recommend?"
A Word of Encouragement
Here is a short video by yours truly, Kelly Higdon sharing about how going paperless and integrating technology has made running a private practice easier, more profitable, and made my LIFE better.
“BST was the best investment I have made in myself. I went from working 45-50 hours per week to working 25 hrs, doubling my income,” Cyndi
