Wonderful, lazy Sunday listening to National Public Radio (NPR) and was surprised to hear a fantastic TedTalk that I had heard before and how inspired I was this beautiful afternoon. I have so many ideas swirling around, but the long and the short of it is- we are made to live and think in community.
Steven Johnson did a lecture on "Where Good Ideas Come From" for TED talks (I'm embedding the video below). The major premise is that research is showing we don't have amazing ideas in our work, our business, or our lives alone "doing our work." We have great ideas as part of a larger, connected network!
I'm excited to be part of a great connecting event this week geared towards helpers of people where I get to share ideas about using smartphones for business. However, I know that much of the benefit of this FREE event will not just be during my "lecture" but it will be in the fantastic Q & A and exchange of ideas that happens afterwards! (If you are interested in listening and questioning with me- you can sign up here.)
It also happens that I (Miranda) get to hang out with some amazing businesswomen in Modesto, CA this week at a networking group called "Women's Success Network." Some of the best ideas and epiphanies I have had in the last year have been over coffee with people from completely different businesses over coffee, at the gym, or in passing.
And, when it comes to technology, I think it is even more important to have this connection, inspiration, and relaxed/safe atmosphere to really process through and talk about the best ways to do things. I hope you will watch the following video. It really is amazing- and makes you think about looking at your business and your life in a new way- or at least it did that for me. I'm hoping many of you will watch it and share your ideas and thoughts in the comments section. I have SO many but I don't want to ruin it for anybody by jumping the gun to post!
Hope your Sunday is fantastic!
