How Business School Bootcamp is Changing Lives
Behind every passionate business owner, there is a heart and a mission that goes much deeper. The most heartwarming moments for Kelly and I is when people see that... they see beyond the business to the true, underlying goal. The reason this business has to be profitable, is so we can do our heart's work.
My Heart's Work
My deep mission is that master's degrees in social work and psychology will stop being the worst paid master's degrees. Why? Because I think as long as we continue to devalue how much therapists get paid, mental health treatment and prevention will continue to be stigmatized. Low pay jobs and unpaid internships also can make it unlikely or impossible to have diversity within the profession...and with fewer people getting transformational services, there will be more unnecessary pain in this world.
Kelly's Heart Work
While Kelly's mission is similar, it is more about making psychotherapy sustainable. I LOVE when she talks about the way that psychotherapy changes family trees. It shifts the way that individuals relate to one another not just for this generation, but for generations to come. Some people are leaving the profession altogether or leaving clinical work- not because they don't LOVE it, and aren't fabulous at it- but because they are struggling financially. It is not ok.
Business School Bootcamp for Therapists
Our goal with the Business School Bootcamp is really about changing the deep, systemic issues within our profession from the bottom up. And when I say the bottom, I don't mean from the pre-licensed person... I mean from what we each individually think and tell ourselves, to how we present ourselves to the world, to how we interact within the world, and what we tell other professionals. We want to change the world for therapists, so they can change the world of more people on this planet!
Bootcamp Changing Lives
Business School Bootcamp is a lifetime program. It can seem crazy but we don't charge our clients another dime to continue to participate in the program over and over again. Why do they have to repeat? Does it not work the first time? No- that isn't it... Our businesses and needs change over time. We are only able to make so much deep change before we need to get things normalized, and then dig in again. My favorite thing about bootcamp isn't just seeing the ah-mazing transformations people go through in two weeks... it is seeing the long-term changes that happen over months and years...
Seeing Therapist's Expand
We LOVE watching a therapist grow from being unsure of whether they can sustain a private practice- to having a full practice and moving beyond to speaking or writing a book. Or watching a therapist with a full practice who is working themselves into the ground learn how to create balance, outsource, and expand their practice further while creating more work/life balance. We love watching therapists move into group practices over time and creating opportunities for other therapists who want to do great clinical work, but who aren't marketing ninjas. We love seeing bootcampers move into national media, being quote, being on live, national TV shows, and so much more.
