Growing into Group Practice with Sara

Sara, LMFT, LPC provides divorce and co-parenting counseling online or in-person in Birmingham, AL.

Sara shared with us her success story of stepping out into private practice after divorce and diving in to all that Business School Bootcamp has to offer. When Sara first found zynnyme in 2015, she was in graduate school pursuing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. Sara has since built a thriving business she is proud of and is currently expanding into group practice, learning to take on a new role as she manages her team.

How are you pivoting or supporting your community during COVID-19?: Offering virtual and in-person (if requested).

Your Experience with Bootcamp in one sentence: It has been a business lifeline for me when I am overwhelmed, stuck, or just flat-out don’t know what to do!

How were you feeling before you signed up for Bootcamp?: Nervous, since it was a lot of money, but I loved the lifetime access and every year it just keeps getting better and better in terms of resources. Kelly and Miranda have blown me away with all the resources and help they provide for me to create a successful business.

What did your private practice look like before Bootcamp started?: I actually engaged them right when I was starting out my private practice in 2016. My practice was grown tremendously due to their direction and wisdom.

How do you feel after Business School Bootcamp for Therapists?: Full, inspired, not alone (since there are other therapists who feel all the feels about running a business).

How have your private practice and life changed after Bootcamp (processes, clinically, work-life balance, financially)?: My processes are thorough and make sense to me. My work-life balance is a lot better. When I was starting out, I was at my client's schedules mercy; now my clients fit into my schedule instead of the other way around.

What would you say to someone else who is on the fence about joining Business School Bootcamp for Therapists?: I know the investment is worth it; however, you get what you put into it. If you sign up and don't use the resources or the processes K&M developed to help you get the most out of Bootcamp, then you will miss out. The investment, I know, is sound because there are so many resources available. But it is not just the resources; it is finding other clinicians who are just as driven around the country to create a successful private practice that helps people thrive.

What do you wish you had known about private practice before you started?: That it wasn’t just setting up a couch, lamp, and a box of tissues. If you really want to be successful (and I deem successful as not just financially but serving people well), then there is a lot more to creating your practice than furniture!
