Finding Accountability and Revamping Your Private Practice with Danielle
Danielle, LCPC, provides telehealth services in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, specializing in relationships, spirituality, depression, and anxiety.
She shared with us her private practice success story of finding the accountability she needed to revamp her practice after 8 years as a business owner! Danielle's practice had already shifted from part-time to full-time, but she found herself overworked and overwhelmed with the business side of things — until she joined Bootcamp three years ago. Since Bootcamp, she has hit TWO five figure months, something she had never done in all her years in private practice.
We spoke about how Bootcamp gave Danielle the support, accountability, and resources she needed to increase her understanding of the numbers, set her fee without shame, be more present in her personal life, and serve the clients she loves.
How are you pivoting or supporting your community during Covid-19?: Being available and present to my clients. Responding quicker to all emails and voice mails.
Your experience with Bootcamp in one sentence: I have learned so much about my practice and how to make it more profitable. I am in the process of learning how to create courses via teachable.com as a result. A marketing coach tries to get me to pay thousands of dollars to learn from her.
How were you feeling before you signed up for Bootcamp?: I was exhausted, frustrated and couldn’t pay my quarterly taxes. It was all a struggle!
What did your private practice look like before Bootcamp started?: I loved the work I do but couldn’t find a way to make it profitable for me and my family. I couldn’t pay my quarter taxes and owed each year. I was paneled with insurance companies and EAP’s that reimbursed too low. I was tired all the time from working too hard and couldn’t figure it out on my own.
How do you feel after Business School Bootcamp for Therapists?: I feel confident in the work I do with my clients and in my ability to be successful. I am grateful.
How have your private practice and life changed after Bootcamp (processes, clinically, work-life balance, financially)?: I feel great about my fee and I selected by knowing my numbers and I have no problem referring clients who require a lower rate. I have a set number of pro bono cases to give back. I am able to have savings now and I pay my quarterly taxes ahead of time and in full. I no longer have financial stress and my practice is booming and thriving during COVID-19. I’m actually having to refer potential clients out. I lack nothing and I am so grateful!
What would you say to someone else who is on the fence about joining Business School Bootcamp for Therapists?: I would say, sign up and be willing to roll up your sleeves and do the work to get the most out of it. It was transform your practice. You will be become clear about your niche group and how to beat market your practice. You’ll become a boss, for real!
What do you wish you had known about private practice before you started?: I wish I would have known the importance of consistency and having a battle buddy. I went on my own for the first two years but made real progress when I got a battle buddy.
