Making Space for Possibility and Multiple Streams of Income for Therapists with Elizabeth

Elizabeth “Beth” Irias, LMFT and “Utilization Review Guru,” may be best known for her CE Podcast Company, Clearly Clinical but that is only one of her 3 streams of income.

Today, Beth took a moment to share with us how she went from new graduate working for an agency to making space for possibility and designing her perfect practice with multiple income sources.

Quick and determined to get through school and licensing, Beth held a number of non-therapy positions in her journey. She credits her experience in medical document utilization review with giving her the understanding of what really needs to be in your documentation.

She took this understanding into her work in residential therapy and found keeping up with the paperwork requirement there almost impossible. It was then she decided she had to either “Sink or Swim” and created her patented method for clinical documentation that takes her on average 2 minutes per chart!

Beth began sharing her newfound discovery and soon began teaching it as a side job. It wasn’t long, however, until the extended hours began affecting her home life. It was time to shift directions away from agency work and toward her teaching.

While presenting at a conference one day, Beth noticed that she was the only female in the group of presenters. It was her strong desire to represent “Other” that moved her to start Clearly Clinical. She wanted to have education from presenters that were representative of the audience.

Always encouraging to those who wish to learn, Beth shared her method for seeing past the barriers to success and encourages those who wish to move into multiple income streams beyond the couch to “allow for the possibility.”
