Trusting Myself and My Business: zynnyme Journey with Addyson

Addyson, a gender career psychologist specializing in queer and trans clients, has been in full-time private practice since 2024. But her path to this point wasn’t always easy.

After spending years in university counseling, Addyson made the life-changing decision to transition to full-time private practice. Although it was one of the best decisions she’s made, it was also one of the most challenging.

Looking back, Addyson recalls the toxic leadership change at her university job in 2016, which led to a complete turnover of the staff. Feeling desperate to leave but unable to afford it, Addyson stuck it out until she was finally unemployed for five months before finding a new position. Despite the opportunity for healing in this new role, something still felt off. Addyson longed for more flexibility and the chance to work with clients that aligned with her passion and values.

During the second year of the pandemic, Addyson discovered Zynnyme’s free marketing offerings. Initially hesitant to buy anything, she connected with the community and realized that investing in the program could be the solution she needed. When she calculated the cost of the program in terms of client sessions, she realized it made financial sense, and she took the leap.

The decision to enroll in Zynnyme Business School turned out to be transformative. Addyson found a community of like-minded professionals, built lasting connections, and developed a business strategy tailored to her neurodivergent brain. Even through unexpected financial challenges in the last year, Addyson learned to trust herself and her model. She now feels confident navigating the ups and downs of business ownership without fear or self-doubt.

Today, Addyson looks back on the past decade with pride. Her confidence in managing her practice has grown, and she now feels equipped to handle whatever comes her way. Her journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support and strategies, you can turn challenges into opportunities for growth and success.

I have successfully built a cash pay psychotherapy practice from scratch on a shoestring budget. I have also failed a licensed exam by 1 point (only to have the licensing board send me a later months later saying I passed), started an online study group to ease my own isolation and have now reached thousands of therapists across the country, helped other therapists market their psychotherapy practices, and helped awesome business owners move from close to closing their doors, to being profitable in less than 6 weeks. I've failed at launching online programs. I've had wild success at launching online programs. I've made mistakes in private practice I've taught others how to avoid my mistakes. You can do this. You were called to this work. Now- go do it! Find some help or inspiration as you need it- but do the work!
