From Successful Group Practice Owner to Mother and Author with Kelsey

Kelsey, an MSW, LCSW, working with anxious teens in St. Louis, knew she wanted to be a counselor from the time she was small. She has a passion for helping people, especially kids, and a special gift for helping others with anxiety and anger management. She wrestled with her desire to go into private practice after growing up watching her mom enjoy the flexibility of private practice but fight with insurance to get paid.

In 2017, Kelsey started her practice while still employed in her nonprofit job where she had an unmanageable caseload and schedule. After joining Business School for Therapist and an accountability program, she was able to go to part-time in 3 months and gradually transitioned to a full private practice over that first year. A short year later, she opened her group practice: Compassionate Counseling.

Then things got busy. While still running her group practice, seeing patients, and running her popular interview program, Kelsey got pregnant and was unexpectedly invited to write a book.  She shares how she found balance having a baby, running a successful group practice, and writing a book, as well as the steps of the book writing process.

Her book, When Anxiety Makes You Angry: CBT Anger Management Skills for Teens with Anxiety-Driven Anger, will be released in February 2022. Make sure to check out her website to sign up for her newsletter and get book excerpts, including her 3-Step Approach to Anxiety and Anger Management.
