“It’s so crazy to me to think about purchasing office space without financing after 4 years in business having no business background” - Ginger

It’s so crazy to me to think about purchasing office space without financing after 4 years in business having no business background. I work part-time with 3 small kids and chronic health conditions. It’s all kinds of miracles that you and Kelly have built. Your system works.

I've had lovely and empowering, individual conversations with my therapists leading up to a larger practice conversation. I referenced KPI that I track for our practice showing new trends (people are dropping out of practice based on survey for financial reasons, we live outside Detroit and are always hit first by recessions historically), I also referenced anecdotal conversations with clinicians that noted the very same trend and with our office manager backed up by our referral log. (This is also confusing for clinicians because they had a terrific month but they absolutely got the individual and group conversations because of trust we've developed over several years.). Anyhow, I really worked individually with clinicians to say I'm here to be proactive (in the event) that we are moving into a less abundant period to adopt strategies that really work. 1. Nurturing your current caseload, 2. For some clinicians developing a bit of a cushion in case clients leave treatment unexpectedly/Stretching but not stressing themselves (I'm constantly working with clinicians around anti-burnout so this felt really strange.), 3. Revisiting niche and marketing strategy as we've been working in a period of abundance and it's time to invest in strategies and relationships that have served us in the past. What am I missing? What is the part 2 for me as business owner? I'm calm, I'm not freaked out. I'm working methodically with my office manager on implementing strategies but I don't want to feel like I missed easy things to do to create additional stability. Background, this might seem really out of left field but I did the same thing in December with getting my clinicians ready to transition to online work prior to the covid wave. It seemed very crazy to everyone else but ended up giving us a huge leg up and made my clinicians feel very supported and ahead of the curve if that makes sense.

I have successfully built a cash pay psychotherapy practice from scratch on a shoestring budget. I have also failed a licensed exam by 1 point (only to have the licensing board send me a later months later saying I passed), started an online study group to ease my own isolation and have now reached thousands of therapists across the country, helped other therapists market their psychotherapy practices, and helped awesome business owners move from close to closing their doors, to being profitable in less than 6 weeks. I've failed at launching online programs. I've had wild success at launching online programs. I've made mistakes in private practice I've taught others how to avoid my mistakes. You can do this. You were called to this work. Now- go do it! Find some help or inspiration as you need it- but do the work!
